Wrapping Up 2018 and Welcoming 2019: A Few Reflections and My Wishes For You
31 DECEMBER 2018
I’ve been struggling these past few days. I’ve been having a hard time coming up with the words I want to say here, to you, my beautiful friends, community, village, as we say goodbye to another year and welcome a new one. I don’t want to sound cliché and I don’t want to sound unrealistic. But I’ve been focusing on the wrong thing. I have been worried about how I don’t want to sound instead of thinking about what I do want for you, for us all. And I want to be real and realistic.

This year may have been filled with blessings for you, or it may have been a tough one. It may have been a little bit of both. For me, it was a year of incredible growth and stretching. Stretching outside my comfort zone, testing the waters of doing things that light me up but also scare me, and feeling really uncomfortable at times. It was also a year of coming to terms with what really matters to me, but at the same time, feeling a bit trapped and unable to truly take the leaps I need to take in order to reach my full potential. I know people who started families this year, who welcomed love and children into their lives, who felt like this was their most blessed year. I also know people who lost loved ones, and whose lives felt like they were falling apart, but they’re still here, still fighting and showing up for life. No matter where in the spectrum of possibilities your experience falls, you are still here. You made it! 2018 may have been amazing or you may be saying ‘good riddance’, but nevertheless, it has brought you to this day, and it has prepared you for what’s to come.

Tomorrow is just another day. It’s also a new beginning. Try to approach the new year as a blank slate, full of possibilities and opportunities. Leave behind everything you don’t want and instead focus on how you want to feel throughout the year. Find ways to experience that feeling or those emotions you crave. Perhaps waking up to see that first sunrise of 2019 and praying or meditating on your intention for the year. The experience of our life is what we make it. It’s up to us to choose how we approach each season or chapter of our life story. And part of that choice we must make, involves investing in ourselves. We cannot be our best self to those who depend on us, if we do not take care of ourselves.

1 JANUARY 2019
[This is the text from an email I sent my Email List. I thought more of you could find it valuable, so here it is!]
Happy New Year! Can you believe how quickly 2019 came? I feel like we had ten Januaries and then all of a sudden it was Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas/NewYear. LOL.
Anywho! I'll get to the point. First, I hope 2019 will be a great year for you, my friend. I hope that whatever it is that you need this year, will come to be. Whether you know it right now or not. And I hope that you know that if I can help support you in any way, I am right here, happy to do so!
Second, why don't I like the "New Year, New You" cliché? Because you don't need to change WHO you are. You don't need to be someone else! Yes, the new year comes with a sense of opportunity and possibility, and I fully support that, but we are constantly evolving beings, so thinking we need to be a NEW us, says that who we are right now is not enough. And that, my friend, couldn't be further from the truth.
You are enough, just as you are right this moment. As I've said many times before, this doesn't mean you get to be complacent and do nothing to grow, learn, improve, depending on the circumstances of your life experience. It just means that you can accept who you are, this version of you, and know, that with the NEW year, come countless opportunities to continue to evolve into the best version of YOU there is. And I trust that you can do this. If you want to. If you want more for your life, and you're ready to put in the work and invest in yourself, you can do whatever you set your mind to.
So here's to YOU, beautiful. Here's to an amazing 2019, which will most likely have lots of ups and downs, but hopefully will be just what YOU need to get closer to your full potential, with a lot of JOY sprinkled in the mix!
I will be here, working hard to support you, which is my calling. I have lots of wonderful plans for YOU this year, and I can't wait to share all the details with you! In the meantime, head over to The Joy Village on FB if you're not already hanging out in there!
XOXO, Angie.
